SENIOR RESOURCES Topics for Wellness series set Providence Womens Wellness Series presents Where Did I Put My Keys? a free forum on women and memory loss, Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Providence Portland Medical Center Amphitheatre, 4805 N.E. Glisan St. Free parking is available. For the 50 percent of women who experience symptoms during menopause, many report feeling forgetfulness, insomnia, depression, and anxiety. Providence Center on Aging Medical Director Carol Baird, M.D., will discuss the latest studies on why women experience memory loss during menopause, causing women to ask the question Is it me or is it my hormones? The good news is that feeling foggy during menopause is not necessarily a sign of Alzheimers. Dr. Baird will discuss menopausal memory loss and what women can do during menopause to maintain a healthy mind and healthy body. Providence Womens Health offers this opportunity for women to learn the latest information about their health and the health of their families. Speech pathologist helps those with Parkinsons Led by a speech pathologist, Parkinsons Resources of Oregon Communication Skills Group will offer a ten-week class; addressing vocal and communication challenges for those with Parkinsons disease. There is a $50 fee, but some scholarships are available. Volunteer reading tutors sought OASIS Intergenerational Tutor Program seeks adults, age 50 and over, to help children learn to read. Volunteers are matched with a child and work one hour a week during the school year at the participating school most convenient for them. No experience is necessary. CHURCHES Bilingual celebration marks anniversary New Life Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 12505 N.E. Halsey St. will have a special bilingual English-Korean worship service on Sunday, Sept.11 at 11 a.m. followed by an End of Summer/Beginning of Fall Picnic on the church grounds. Grilled hamburgers, hot dogs with buns, trimmings, and beverages, will be furnished. Those attending are asked to bring either a salad or dessert to share. The fall worship schedule begins the following Sunday, Sept. 18.
