As the St. George Festival & Middle Eastern Bazaar draws near, delicious preparations are being made. Working hard making spinach pies for sale at the festival are, from left to right, Yusra Karam, Salwa Karam, Samira Farah and Nuhad Kahal. Spinach pie consists of spinach, onion, lemon, walnut and herbs wrapped in bread dough; this traditional Middle Eastern treat, along with other Middle Eastern cuisine served for special occasions, will be offered for sale at the 29th annual event.

Celebrating Middle Eastern culture and heritage, the festival will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 2101 N.E. 162nd Ave., on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 11.
