Kitzhaber to address diners
Portland Adventist Community Services has announced that former Gov. John Kitzhaber, M.D. will be the keynote speaker at its Benefit Dinner for the PACS Family Health Clinic on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 5 p.m. at the Monarch Hotel, 12566 S.E. 93rd Ave. Generation Home Health and Family Care, Inc sponsor the event. A small silent auction will begin at 4 p.m.

Kitzhaber will discuss the critical state of health care for uninsured Oregonians this first benefit dinner for PACS. During his first term as governor, Kitzhaber oversaw the expansion of the Oregon Health Plan, which reduced the rate of uninsured Oregon children from 21 percent to eight percent. Unfortunately today17 % of Oregonians are uninsured, an increase from 14 percent just two years ago. Analysts cite three intertwined factors: a sputtering economy, a shrinking Oregon Health Plan for low-income residents and escalating health care costs for all.

PACS Family Health Clinic exists because of the vision, dedication, and faith commitment of many volunteer health care professionals and in-kind support from Portland Adventist Medical Center. Because of that support PACS is able to provide quality health care with a cash outlay averaging $35 per patient. The goal of this event is to raise the funds necessary to maintain the daily operations of this clinic.

For more information on how you can sponsor or attend the PACS Benefit Dinner call Carol Paulson at 503-252-8500 ext. 0 or e-mail janicep@pdxacs.com.
