HOLIDAY BAZAARS
The annual St. Rita Catholic Church Fall Festival and Bazaar is set for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many new vendors are expected to participate, and those familiar with the event will find the boutique, baked goods, fresh produce and white elephants of past years, as well.

Lunch is available all day.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1 annual Christmas Bazaar is Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. All items are handcrafted. Members will also offer baked goods and a snack bar. The Legion hall is located at 1820 S.E. 122nd Ave.

Kirkland Union Manor Ladies Club, 3530 S.E. 84th Ave., will offer candies, cookies, homemade items and jewelry on Friday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Snack on popcorn and hot dogs while you browse.

St. Therese Women’s Association will serve champagne to shoppers on Friday evening, Nov. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. The bazaar continues on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Look for fresh baked goods, raffle items and deli-style snacks. St. Therese Catholic Church is located at 1260 N.E. 132nd Ave.

As it has for over 50 years, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 11229 N.E. Prescott St. invites the community to its annual bazaar. The event, known as “It’s a Dickens of a Christmas,” will be on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Organizers say is it one of the largest in the area and features handcrafted items made by church members. There are no commercial vendors. A full-size hand sewn quilt entitled “Mysteries of the Night” will be a raffle prize.

Soup, sandwiches and pies will be offered at the snack bar. Childcare for ages three and under will be available. Call 503-252-5720 to find out more.

Sleepy Hollow Craft Guild will hold a Christmas Holiday Sale at the fellowship hall of the Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church located at 1740 S.E. 139th Ave. on Saturday, Nov.5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On sale will be Santa Claus carvings, Christmas decor, metal arts and more. Funds raised will be donated to Human Solutions.

Love is stitched into hundreds of hand made crafts and gifts that will fill the tables of the Providence Child Center Guild’s 55th annual Holiday Bazaar, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, in the main lobby of Providence Portland Medical Center, 4805 N.E. Glisan St.

This long tradition of the guild dates back to 1950 when the Sisters of Providence operated Our Lady of Providence Nursery, one of Oregon’s first orphanages. The sisters cared for every child, regardless of need, who came to their door. The guild formed initially to support the work of the orphanage. The ladies raised money through teas, fashion shows, spaghetti dinners and bazaars to buy equipment for the nursery.

In addition to the handmade items, guild members will offer a variety of baked goods, a traditional turkey luncheon and an Amish quilt raffle at the bazaar.

The women of Parkrose United Methodist Church invite you to attend its annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12 from 9 am to 4 pm at 11111 N.E. Knott St.

Shoppers will find ideal gifts and holiday decor from numerous arts and crafts tables. There will be white elephants and baked goods.

House of Dreams, a Parkrose area no-kill cat shelter, will hold its fifth annual Pretty Kitty Holiday Gift Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Russellville Grange, Northeast 121st Avenue and Prescott Street.

The bazaar features many unique and beautiful handmade gift items for people and pets and complimentary refreshments, including a vegan table. The ever-popular Second-Time-Around table will include gently used holiday decorations at rock-bottom prices.

Cindy Miller, a local cat behaviorist, will be on hand from noon to 4 p.m. to answer questions about cats’ idiosyncrasies and quirks.

Dorothy Beal is a talented hand quilter who was honored as the Artist of the Year this year at the Mid-county Memo Community Awards. She has been working steadily all year on new pieces including wall hangings, baby blankets, table runners and place mats.

Just in time for Christmas, Beal will offer her works for sale at Firwood Gardens, 819 N.E. 122nd Ave on Friday, Nov. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.

A resident of Firwood Gardens, Beal says, “I just have to do it. It keeps me going.” She is 90 years young and still hand stitches all her work.
