SCHOOL CORNER
Kindergarten roundup on tap
Neighborhood elementary schools in the David Douglas district will host a spring Kindergarten roundup for students planning to enter school in the fall. This fun event will be held on Wednesday, May 3 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. If you are not sure which school your child should attend, please call 503-256-6526.

The roundup will give parents and children the opportunity to meet teachers and the principal. Attendees will tour the school, view the kindergarten classrooms, take a bus ride to learn about the school transportation system, and participate in kindergarten readiness activities.

Registration will follow the morning activities. A birth certificate, immunization card and proof of residence will be required for each registration.

Childcare will be available for younger siblings. Spanish and Russian translators will be on hand.

The district encourages all incoming kindergarten parents and students to attend this informational event. Attendance helps the district project enrollment and may even result in your child becoming more excited and comfortable about starting school.

Kindergarten students get an early look
The Sacramento Elementary School Kindergarten Roundup is May 19 at 9 a.m. Parents will gather in room 18 while prospective students are treated to a tour of the school. To ensure that all families feel welcomed, you will be introduced to teachers, staff and curriculum. The opportunities and programs available to students will be discussed, and you will learn how the school community strives to help your child experience academic, social and emotional growth.

Sacramento Elementary is located at 11400 N.E. Sacramento St.

If you have any questions or if you need an interpreter, please call 503-408-2800.
