Mid-county Memo welcomes advertising sales representative DARLENE VINSON TheMID-COUNTY MEMO
Always a go-getter, Colton began working at age 15. Like many teens, she started at fast food restaurants, but within a couple of years landed a clerical job at the Bank of California. This trend continued as she moved through her career selecting jobs demanding ever-increasing responsibilities. While these positions offered stability, something was missing. Coltons friends had long been encouraging her to seek a career in sales. Finally, in 1999, an opportunity to sell advertising for Willamette Week presented itself and she took the leap. As friends had suggested, this seems to truly be her niche. Self-motivated and energetic, Colton has discovered she enjoys working one on one with clients to help them grow their businesses. While working on commission at first seemed scary, she credits her gift of gab and sincere interest in her clients as the secrets to her success. Seeking to be active in the Mid-county business community, Colton is a member of both the Parkrose Business Association and the Gateway Area Business Association where she enjoys networking with area small business owners. On her own time, Colton enjoys spending time with her adult daughter, April. Other interests include reading, gardening and traveling. A recent memorable travel experience was a June 2001 trip to Belize. Colton especially enjoyed touring the Mayan ruins. As testament to her people skills, she met an archeologist while visiting the ceremonial center of Xuanatunich who remains a pen pal today. Colton joined the Memo in April and can be reached at 503-256-1115 or sales@midcountymemo.com. But if you are a business owner in Mid-County, she will likely contact you first. |
