PBA hears about members business Judy Kennedy of Pacific NW Federal Credit Union will address fellow members of the Parkrose Business Association at the September general meeting during its Member Moment. Cascade Lions meeting date set Portland Cascade Lions is extending an open invitation to business and neighborhood leaders interested in giving back to their community. Lung Cancer Education and Support Group meets on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Providence Professional Plaza Radiation/Oncology Conference Room, 5050 N.E. Hoyt St. This is a support group for lung cancer patients and their family members and friends. The support group provides an opportunity to share experiences, give and receive mutual support and learn from one another. Call 503-215-6419 for details. Providence Cancer Center Class: Breast Cancer Recovery Through Wellness and Exercise is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Providence Portland Medical Center, in room HCC 6, 4805 N.E. Glisan St. This class teaches how to achieve optimal health after treatment for breast cancer. Topics covered include exercise, nutrition, restoring shoulder function and more. Family Support Group for Cancer Patients meets Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Providence Professional Plaza Radiation Oncology Area, 5050 N.E. Hoyt St. This monthly dinner and support group is for the entire family based on the belief that children and teens who have a family member diagnosed with cancer benefit from a safe environment in which they can express their feelings. Staff encourages the expression of feelings through the use of art, play, and speaking with others in similar situations. Groups are divided by age, with a parent group meeting at the same time. Glisan St. The class teaches how to use diet, exercise and natural medicine to reduce risk of cancer and to improve response to cancer therapy. Glisan St. Work with other quilters to create Passage Quilts that are offered to seriously ill patients at Providence Portland Medical Center.
