Clarification, Retraction

The Mid-county Memo strives to be accurate and thorough in its coverage and corrects significant errors of fact. If you find an error, please call 503-287-8904 or e-mail department editor Darlene Vinson at editor@midcountymemo.com.

To accompany last month's Calendar item, “Sample authentic German menu,” we published a six-year old photo identifying a youth pastor at Rivercrest Community Church who no longer works there. We apologize for the confusion. During the copy editing process, in the attempt to clarify a writer's intent, words were added to a paragraph in a Letter to the Editor last month. We retract the words belligerent, indigent and bare-chested from George Stevenson's letter and apologize. Here is his original, unedited paragraph: “So Folkes, the screw ball is in your court! Do we protect our neighborhoods & schools or not............................? Sure, the $$$$ making retailers want to cut their overhead, security (Fred Meyer Gateway has it's own mini-police station) & clean-up problems/costs.........pass it along to usn's!!!!!! I can envision the trail of trash to & fro....and the untrustworthy bottle collectors who will saunter, bike ride, meander, peruse, stalk in volumes thru here! None, as usual, will show any regard for the community members who live here!”
