Thinking about refinancing or buying a home?
The time is now. With rates lower than they’ve been in nearly 40 years, loan officers with Touchstone Mortgage Company are advising their clients to act now for the most savings.

Touchtone Mortgage offers a wide variety of loans as well as real estate services. Types of available loans include conforming, non-conforming, construction, remodeling, commercial, jumbo, balloon, adjustable rate and fixed rate. They also offer no money down loans and first time homebuyer programs. Schooner St. John, a loan officer with Touchtone says “We have a loan for just about anybody.”

But Touchtone Mortgage offers more than just a wide range of services. Their trained loan officers add the personal touch. St. John stays with his clients every step of the way, from finding the right lender to making sure they understand the terms of the contract. He knows what it is like to be on the other side.

Two years ago, a friend helped him buy his first home through Touchtone Mortgage. After having such a positive experience with Touchstone, St. John became increasingly interested in the opportunities in selling and purchasing homes. He became a fully licensed loan officer and realtor in Oregon and Washington, joining Touchstone’s team. St. John enjoys the feeling of being able to help a family by saving them a substantial amount on their mortgage, and after two years on the job, is proud of working to help others achieve their dreams.

St. John urges, “Don’t let problem credit stop you from owning a home. I believe that owning a home is one of the most important steps anyone can take for their family, and I work every day to make that a reality for all of my clients.” Just for Mid-county Memo readers, St. John is offering $100 off processing fees when you mention this article.

With Touchtone Mortgage, you will save time and money. They offer 12-hour turnaround on approvals, much faster than many other institutions. Touchstone has also built a relationship with dozens of lenders and can get you the best rates around - which can add up to substantial savings! With hundreds of lenders to choose from, you can find a loan tailored for you. You can also take advantage of the refinancing boom to lower monthly payments, pay off your loan sooner, or to cash out. Call today to find out how Touchtone Mortgage can help you save.

For more information, please call Schooner St. John at Touchtone Mortgage at 503-255-1815 or 503-515-2679. Touchstone Mortgage is located at 12626 N.E. Glisan St., and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gateway Care and Retirement
Serving the Mid-county community for over thirty years, a well-established senior care facility sits almost unnoticed on the bustling MAX line depot on the corner of N.E. 102nd Avenue and Burnside Street. At Gateway Care and Retirement, seniors are offered the advantage of three levels of housing and care to suit their individual needs. Gateway Care and Retirement’s three levels of care include independent retirement living, residential care for those who need monitoring of their daily activities, and intermediate care (nursing home care), for those who need a great deal of assistance in most areas of daily living. The three levels of care helps prevent seniors from having to switch facilities as their needs change.

Gateway Care and Retirement has gone through some administrative changes recently. Diane Richardson, the Administrator, joined the Gateway team in October, followed by Helen Davenport, the Director of Nurses in December. Since then, Casey Lally has joined the team as the Director of Medical Records. All staff, both old and new, are respectful and maintain a pleasant, supportive environment where the residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible.

“We’re getting back to the basics of senior care and the mission that this facility was originally founded on, namely, providing a residence and care for seniors who want and need it,” says Art Werner, owner of Gateway Care. “As the grandmas and grandpas in our lives have taken care of us, so now we need to step up to the plate and take care of them.”

Firwood Gardens Residential Care, Gateway Care’s sister facility, also holds the same high standards. Located at 819 N.E. 122nd Ave., Firwood has been a leader in senior care for over thirty years. Conveniently located near local shopping, Firwood provides its residents with comfortable individual apartments, personalized assistance, medication management and weekly housekeeping. Three nutritious meals are served daily, energizing residents for the engaging activity program that includes social, religious and educational opportunities. Although non-denominational, Firwood Gardens has a chapel where a variety of religious activities are conducted on a weekly basis, including a Sunday worship service. The in-house beauty salon is available for both men and women to maintain dignity and pride in their appearance.

Other features Gateway Care and Retirement and Firwood Gardens Residential Care offer residents include:
• Complimentary laundry room
• Personalized mail delivery
• Two courtyards and wrap-around walkway
• Variety of apartment sizes
• Individual climate control
• Built-in call system
• Regularly scheduled resident outings
• Weekly shopping trips
• Weekly housekeeping and linen service
• All utilities except telephone and cable
• Social, religious, educational and recreational
programs
• Scheduled medical transportation
• 24 hour supervision and assistance available
• Comprehensive safety and security checks

Gateway Care and Retirement and Firwood Gardens invite you to stop in and see two of Portland’s gem facilities for yourself. Tours are available at both locations seven days a week. For further information call Diane at Gateway Care, 503-252-2461, or Greg Buzzy at Firwood Gardens, 503-252-0085.
