All rides free on New Years Eve Extra late-night service helps you celebrate safely All TriMet rides are free after 6 p.m. on New Years Eve and service will be extended until 3 a.m. on MAX and 2:30 a.m. on 11 bus lines to make it easy to celebrate safely. All three MAX lines (Blue, Red and Yellow) will run every 15 minutes until 1 a.m., then: Blue and Yellow Line trains will continue to run every 30 minutes until 3 a.m. when the last trains leave downtown. Red Line service will run only between Gateway Transit Center and the airport between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Before 1 a.m. the line will run to Beaverton Transit Center. These 11 bus lines will have 30-minute service extended until 2:30 a.m.: 4-Fessenden 6-Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd 8-NE 15th Ave 9-Powell 12-Barbur Blvd 14-Hawthorne 15-Belmont 15-NW 23rd Ave 33-McLoughlin 35-Macadam 54-Beaverton/Hillsdale Hwy Portlands New Years Eve celebration Downtown Portland will host a New Years Eve Celebration at Pioneer Courthouse Square with minor impacts on TriMet service: Both MAX stations at Pioneer Courthouse Square will be closed. A few bus stops on Southwest Sixth Avenue near the Square will be closed during the event. Convenient, nearby stops will be open. MAX and buses will continue running past the closed stops.
