Leaf depots open

The city’s popular leaf depots are now open. Leaf depots are leaf-recycling sites where residents can bring their yard leaves for a nominal fee. The Mid-County depot site is located at Floyd Light Middle School on Southeast 108th Avenue and Washington Street.

Only leaves will be accepted and only on the scheduled depot days. No other yard debris is allowed and no dumping during off-hours. Curbside recycling bags are not required as the leaves are emptied into piles and hauled to the City’s composting facility where the leaves are turned into high-quality compost.

The recycling cost is far less then curbside: $1 per carload; $3 per truck or trailer load; $5 per trucks and trailer; $20 per commercial load (5 yd maximum); and $1 discount for senior citizens.

City crews will be at Floyd Light on Saturday, Nov. 6, Sunday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 27 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

For additional information, call the City’s Leaf line at 503-823-1784 or go to the transportation website at www.trans.ci.portland.or.us
