Letters to the Editor... The Mid-county Memo is your newspaper. We want to hear from you. Discuss an important issue or address a concern you want to call to the communitys attention. We prefer you e-mail your letters to Darlene Vinson at editor@midcountymemo.com. Please put Letter to the editor in the subject line. You may also mail your letter to 3510 N.E. 134th Ave., Portland, OR 97230 or fax it to 503-249-7672. Deadline for the October issue is Wednesday, Sept. 15. You call that art? To the editor: I dont want to tweet, I just want to comment. I keep looking at the redesigned public land at Northeast Weidler Street and 102nd Avenue and find it very lacking. I have not spoken to one person who likes the poles standing up in the air! What kind of artwork has been foisted upon us? It would have looked better and been much cheaper to leave the beautiful cherry tree in the middle. Do we ever have a say about art designs that people are placing in our neighborhoods? It appears that there was no thought for the residents who drive by there everyday and have to look at that! My next comment is about the designing of many weed patches to line Northeast 102nd Avenue, Sandy Boulevard, and other spots. How can it be responsible budgeting to design a place for weeds to grow and not budget someone to weed them?!! Once again, it would be better to not spend the money in the first place than to create a weed patch to be uninspired by every time one passes! Judy White Maywood Park resident |
