Rita Deco, 7817 N.E. Prescott St., is a new business in our area, and it’s the inspiration of Northeast Portland resident William Spencer. It opened in February.

Spencer calls Rita Deco “Portland’s tiny shop full of big treasures.” It offers antiques ranging from wall décor to furniture and lamps along with glass and pottery. The business also offers vintage and vintage reproduction décor. And seasonal gifts, such as for the yard and garden, are also featured.

Spencer said one goal of the shop is to offer a space for showing the works of emerging local artists. One wall of the business is dedicated to featuring a new local artist’s work each month. Through June 27, landscape artist Justin Pike will have his oil paintings of the American West on display.

Spencer, who’s lived in the Cully neighborhood for the past 16 years, has much experience in both art and retail sales. For the past 20 years, he’s been busy working for an art supply company, overseeing gift shops and maintaining antique mall space, all in Portland.

Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., Rita Deco can be reached at 503-253-5793 or at ritadeco@comcast.net.
