Letters to the Editor...

The Mid-county Memo is your newspaper. We want to hear from you. Discuss an important issue or address a concern you want to call to the attention of the community. We prefer e-mailed letters to the editor sent to Darlene Vinson at editor@midcountymemo.com. Please put “Letter to the editor” in the subject line. You may also mail your letter to 3510 N.E. 134th Ave., Portland, OR 97230 or fax it to 503-249-7672. Deadline for the August issue is Monday, July 15.

Getting in the last word … maybe

To the editor:

Now that the community members of the Parkrose School District have exercised their voting power, and soundly defeated the irrelevant Mark Gardner for position #3, can we look forward to seeing him dry up and blow away?

I surely hope so, as I am tired of opening nearly every copy of the Memo and finding some ridiculous diatribe from Mark going on about nothing. His time has come and gone. He is a reminder of the dark days of the Parkrose School Board that no one in the district, who lived here at that time, wants to relive. Let's face it, Mark's only interest is Mark. He would have loved to have his name inscribed on another brass plaque, or gone on another district paid junket.

Your kids have grown up and left the district Mark, time to move on and let those whose kids are affected make the decisions. It would seem that your contracting business would benefit more from your firm leadership than that little old school board.

George Spota
Parkrose resident

AVID story elucidating

I finally was able to read the whole article last night, “Parkrose goes all-in with AVID,” June 2013;

Heather [Hill] did an excellent job I know she put a ton of effort into her research and I thought she did a very balanced job of painting a picture of AVID [Advancement Via Individual Determination]. For having her compose the article thank you. How nice to read a paper that does not treat its readers as incapable of understanding a lengthy, detailed article.
