Memo Calendar (continued) FUNDRAISERS SnowCap begins Saturday service, hosts fundraising breakfast SnowCap Community Charities new Saturday service is off and running, and the agency is gearing up to handle increased demand for food and clothing during the winter months. SnowCap Executive Director Judy Alley said the food basket operation is now serving clients from 10:30 a.m. to noon each Saturday at the agencys warehouse at 17788 S.E. Stark St. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. until noon. These Saturday food baskets include fresh produce, dairy products, and canned and packaged goods, which are secured each week at the Oregon Food Bank. SnowCap Community Charities is a nonprofit, faith-based agency that distributes food and clothing and provides energy assistance, English language instruction and other advocacy services for low-income and needy families and individuals in east Multnomah County. A Christmas breakfast sponsored by the Greater Gresham Baptist Church and the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce will support SnowCaps holiday service. The event is scheduled Friday, Dec.15, from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Greater Gresham Baptist Church, 3848 N.E. Division St. in Gresham. Cost is $10 per person. Table sponsorships are $100. Tickets are available by calling 503-674-8785, ext. 17. This event begins the holiday season of sharing for SnowCap, Alley said. Those attending this breakfast will be given an opportunity to support SnowCaps vital community program. Alley noted that the holiday season increases the need for volunteers, food and warm clothing. Sharing time and helping to feed and clothe others is a good antidote to the rampant materialism of a mall Christmas, she said. Volunteers are needed on Saturdays to help set up tables, manage a produce line, accept donations, clean coolers, and assist with transportation needs. Christmas volunteers are also needed on Dec. 16, 18, 19 and 20. Each day has two shifts, one from 9:30 a.m. to noon and one from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Volunteers should schedule their time with Lorie Wageman at 503-674-8785, ext. 12, or at lorie@snowcap.org.
