Christopher Mirati, or Mr. Chris, as he is known professionally, has joined the staff of Dixie’s Gift and Hair Shop, 11906 N.E. Halsey St. Mirati is a 2004 graduate of the Northwest College of Hair Design in Milwaukie, Ore. He received advanced training in hair cutting, product use and customer service at Hair Masters.

After a stint in a corporate setting that demanded 13-minute haircuts and what Mirati described as a revolving-door mentality, he was determined to find a workplace that would allow him to get to know his clients on a personal level. Dixie Winter, a like-minded stylist, has provided Mirati with his own station and the ability to select and stock products of his own choosing.

Because Mirati thinks of himself as a barber first, he enjoys providing men with superior haircuts in a relaxed atmosphere. He is also trained in styles for women and children.

In his spare time, Mirati enjoys attending music concerts and playing the drums with friends, at church and in impromptu jam sessions.

He is currently available by appointment Thursday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. Mention this article and receive a $3 discount through the month of April. Call 503-256-3800 to make an appointment. Make sure to ask about other special offers.

Competitive Edge Business Training Series continues
The popular series of $29 seminars at Mt. Hood Community College, designed to support employees and managers from organizations of all sizes and types, will continue with a new topic each month throughout the spring and summer. All classes are held on the Gresham campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St., from 1 to 4 p.m. Parking is free, beverages will be served, and the workshop-style classes promise to give participants tools to increase their potential to be successful both in the workplace and outside of it.

The Tuesday, April 10 class, Thriving on Conflict, will teach attendees to harness negative energy and learn to use it to their advantage.

For more information and to learn about future class topics, visit http://www.mhcc.edu/pages/1091.asp or call Melanie Lagerstrom at 503-491-7585. Registration is required.
