The Mid-county MEMO For weeks each night on the evening news we learned of new military units being deployed to the Middle East. Now this country and this community have troops in harms way. As you can see from the accompanying letter, these folks are prepared to do the job they were sent to do and ask only that we take care of things at home. This letter was sent to Eva Liu and Eric Chao of Kings Omelets Restaurant, 10711 N.E. Halsey St. - 503-253-0808 by their son, Lance Cpl. Spencer Chao, United States Marine Corps currently stationed abroad. As Lance Cpl. Chao indicates, he and the other Marines get lonely. Sometimes they are bored. You can help. The Mid-county Memo proudly launches OPERATION Memo Pen Pals. If you count a family member among those serving our country and think they would like hearing from Memo readers, please send their name and mailing address to us at 4052 NE 22nd, Portland, OR 97212, or via e-mail to editor@midcountymemo.com. Include a brief description of the service member, their branch of service, mailing address, and a few of their likes, dislikes and favorite treats. We will publish the information and encourage our readers to correspond with and send small gifts to your loved ones. The Chao family encourages anyone would like to write their son to do so. Address his mail to Lance Cpl. Chao, Spencer USMC; HQCO 7th Marines S-4, UIC 39761, FPO AP 96426-9761. |
