The David Douglas High School Theatre Department is proud to present Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Starring junior Kyle Murray as Macbeth and senior Sarah Gabriel as Lady Macbeth, this dark tragedy tells the story of Macbeths deceitful rise to power and his tumultuous fall. Armed with a prophesy from the three weird sisters and sternly guided by the domineering hand of Lady Macbeth, Macbeth finds justification in the murder of Duncan, the King of Scotland (played by sophomore Chris McAlevy), to gain the crown for himself. Macbeths and Lady Macbeths ambition and greed drive them to the darkest corners of their humanity. In the end, it is too much for them to bear and the final stage of the prophesy by the weird sisters comes true as Macduff (junior Robbie Hustrulid) presents Macbeths head to Malcolm (sophomore Casey Wilson), the son of Duncan and the rightful heir to the throne. Performance dates are Thursday through Saturday, May 1, 2, 3, and 8, 9, 10 at the Howard F. Horner Performing Arts Center.
