In search of a barbershop

Dear Editor,

I am trying to find a barbershop, not hair salon, between 102 and 122 along Halsey, is there anything in that shopping center at 111th Ave. and Halsey St.?  Thanks to Tri-Met’s new ‘improved’ schedule, which makes getting to my old one a real task.

Thank you,

Gary Moore

Editor’s note:  It is true that there is no barber shop in 111th square, however I’m sure Scott Williams Hair Design could service your needs.

Protect our kids

This summer is beginning to fade, as well as the pleasant memories from Knott Park with the wonderful gift of a concert by the Oregon Symphony.  Our Gateway Community deserves a big compliment for their enthusiastic attendance and preparation.  Thank you!

Knott Park now has wonderful sports games with the start of school and the children are everywhere with families enjoying the last days of summer.  My attention, however, has been brought to a big concern.  To the leaders and coaches who have their teams playing and practicing:

Today, as I walked my route in the park, I picked up an innocent looking paper to put it in the trash.  When I looked at it, there were the names, telephone numbers, and addresses of every one of the children on the team rosters!  This alarmed me and I want to get a message out to those in charge that please secure those lists with the utmost care!  These games are held in public parks, used by everyone.  It would be a disaster for that information to fall into the wrong hands.

Please take this in the spirit intended, and protect your players and their families.  Thank you for using and caring for Knott Park in particular.
