Business Memo's...

Significant forces in any community are its neighborhood businesses. The Mid-county MEMO offers this section to our business neighbors for news, advancements, promotions, expansions and other noteworthy events to be shared with the community at large. To ensure publication, please send submissions for each month by the 15th of the previous month. Business Memo submissions for the October issue are due by Monday, September 15. For best results, e-mail Darlene Vinson at editor@midcountymemo.com. Or mail editorial submissions to 3510 N.E. 134th Ave., Portland, OR, 97230. To leave a phone message, call 503-287-8904. The fax number is 503-249-7672.

Door-to-door signs
Not everyone can drive their office or shop to each job, but LeeAnn Bruner of LA Signs does exactly that. She has a fully equipped, mobile sign shop capable of producing most signs on location. Cruising the area since October of last year, LeeAnn has been in the sign business since 1984 and loves her work.

An active member of the Parkrose Business Association, Bruner has produced signs for many area businesses and due to her mobility can serve the entire metro area.

Contact LeeAnn at 503-810-4935 or lasigns@spiritone.com for your next sign. Whether your need is for business or to announce a special personal event, she can help.

“Nine Ball” starts up in old Wired/New Star/Eight Balls of Fire/Carrows space
Phuong Truong is now operating Nine Balls Sports Bar in the old Wired building at 11340 N.E. Halsey St. Having regained her liquor license, Truong will be operating the bar from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday, with a 9 a.m. opening time on Sunday during football season. The place will be primarily a sports bar, but there will be karaoke on Wednesday through Saturday nights, plus pool tables. The menu will be “American, hamburgers and finger food,” Truong says.

Truong bought the place, then called “Eight Balls of Fire,” from Scott Detweiler in 2001, and renamed it New Star. In 2002 she sold it to Jeff Jones, who renamed it “Wired.” Truong regained the premises after Jones chose to pursue another career path.
