Graffiti removal first part of action plan TIM CURRAN THE MID-COUNTY MEMO
The EPAP process is moving toward making some difficult decisions. At their meetings on July 10 and 24 at the East Portland Community Center, 740 S.E. 106th Ave., the committee will set priorities for both short- and long-term implementation of possible projects on Action Tables. The potential projects were created as a result of input from public open houses, committee members and other sources. The committee has also developed a filter, or criteria for short-term projects, that places a heavy emphasis on activities that assist in community organizing. The Portland City Council has allocated $500,000 for short-term projects in east Portland. Mid-county looks nicer these days, thanks to EPAPs graffiti cleanup. One of the most important tools to reduce the recurrence of graffiti is to remove it within 24 to 48 hours. Neighbors and volunteers can submit graffiti reports online with location information at www.portlandonline.com/oni/index.cfm?c= 32420 or by calling the Graffiti Hotline at 503-823-4824. ONIs Graffiti Abatement Program can assist with free graffiti removal on owner-occupied residential properties, small businesses and most nonprofits. To volunteer in future events, to find out more about Junes graffiti cleanup or to ask general questions about graffiti, graffiti abatement or resources, please contact Marcia Dennis, graffiti abatement coordinator, at 503-823-5860 or mdennis@ci.portland.or.us. |
