Refectory rocks, collects food for needy

DARLENE VINSON
THE MID-COUNTY MEMO

The crowd of more than 300 people at last month’s Customer Appreciation Party at the Refectory Rest-aurant, 1618 N.E. 122nd Ave., ranged from dinner clientele in their 80s to the 20-somethings who frequent the nightclub.

Owners Mitch and Cecile (CeeCee to everyone who knows her) Stanley began this invitation-only event some 20 years ago to celebrate the holidays with the people who make their restaurant a success and as a way to extend the spirit of giving to our less fortunate community members. Guests are asked to bring non-perishable food items. A typical year nets nearly 1000 pounds of canned meats, foods, vegetables, soups and pasta for the Oregon Food Bank. The Refectory Restaurant — a Mid-county landmark — is 14,000 square feet. It features a 168-seat dining room, three full bars and a 350-seat banquet room.

Sharing the spirit of the season at the Refectory Restaurant’s annual Customer Appreciation Party held last month are, from left, Shawn Moore, Roy Moore, Kathy Moore and Dale Britton. They were among more than 300 guests who sampled offerings from the famous Refectory kitchen and helped collect food for the Oregon Food Bank.
