PBA monthly meeting is set
The work will be done, the event will be history, but on Thursday, July 20, members of the Parkrose Business Association will get together at Steamers Restaurant and Lounge, 9727 N.E. Sandy Blvd., to assess the 5th Annual Rose Festival Cruise-In it sponsored last month.

Also on the agenda is Eileen Stocker of Steamers Restaurant for a Member Moment.

The buffet luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.

Brown bag topic is Measure 37
You have likely heard of Measure 37, but do you really understand it? You will get your chance to learn about this controversial land use regulation on Friday, July 14 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Measure 37 will be the discussion topic at the monthly city of Portland Bureau of Development Services brown bag session.

You will learn about Measure 37 requirements and how the city has implemented the measure. BDS staff will help clear up some common misconceptions surrounding the measure and talk about claims that have been filed and their outcomes. Finally, you will learn about ways that might help you achieve your development goals that do not include filing a Measure 37 claim.

Bring your lunch and join the discussion downtown at 1900 S.W. 4th Ave. in Conference Room 2500 A.

THE ARTS
Theatre festival features comedy, drama
Mt. Hood Repertory Theatre Company announces its 10th anniversary American Classics Theatre Festival to be held this summer at Mt. Hood Community College, 26000 S.E. Stark St. in Gresham. Productions slated for the festival include Ken Ludwig's "Lend Me a Tenor" and Gordon McKay's "Sea Marks." New this year, tickets are good for any performance - no reservations are needed.

Artistic Director Tobias Andersen will direct "Lend Me a Tenor." This award-winning comedy has been hailed as the one of the funniest farces to appear on Broadway. As the Cleveland Grand Opera prepares for one of its biggest nights in history, world famous tenor Tito Merelli's appearance on stage seems highly unlikely. But as we all know, the show must go on - under any circumstance - even if it means sending a replacement on stage - the petrified-with-fright production assistant.

Associate Artistic Director Trisha Pancio-Armour will direct "Sea Marks," a tale of a simple fisherman who discovers a poetic inner voice when he begins writing to a publisher's assistant he meets at a cousin's wedding. But when she decides to publish his intimate letters about life on the sea as a book of poetry, he is made into an instant celebrity, and their simple love affair suddenly becomes very complex.

The festival runs July 28-August 20. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8 p.m.

Sunday matinee performances are at 2 p.m. General admission tickets are $20; seniors and students pay $15. Festival passes are available for $34 and $28 respectively.

"Lend Me a Tenor" will play on the MHCC Main Stage. "Sea Marks" performances will be in the MHCC Studio Theatre.

Information and tickets are available by phone at 503-491-5950, online at www.mthoodrep.org, or at The Rep's office at 12 N.E. 2nd St. in Gresham.
