VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES
Auction volunteers and donations sought
It's that time of year. The Parkrose Educational Foundation needs volunteers to help plan and execute its annual dinner and auction in April. This is the major fundraiser for the foundation each year and results in dozens of grants for field trips, student gardens, classroom enhancements, musical instruments and so much more. All Parkrose area residents are invited to help with this year's event.

The auction committee is also busy gathering items for both the silent and live auction portions of the evening. Vacation properties, gift baskets and products or services from local businesses all make great auction items.

To volunteer or to donate an auction item, please contact Auction Chair Allison Newman-Woods at allison944@gmail.com.

Everyone lives in a watershed
On Saturday, March 5, the Johnson Creek Watershed Council and its partners will hold the 13th annual Watershed Wide volunteer restoration event. Organizations, individuals, businesses and other nonprofits will gather for a day of stewardship and community-building at priority restoration sites from Tideman Johnson Park in Portland to Ambleside Natural Area in Gresham. At each site, volunteers will enhance the creek by removing invasive species, planting native trees and shrubs and mulching new plants. Restoration parties will work from 9 a.m. to noon and be rewarded with a volunteer appreciation lunch at the conclusion of the event.

The Johnson Creek Watershed Council inspires and facilitates community investment in the Johnson Creek Watershed for the protection and enhancement of its natural resources. Johnson Creek is a unique urban stream stretching 26 miles through four cities and two counties. It is one of the last free-flowing streams in Portland, and it still supports four salmon species and an incredible variety of wildlife.

To register for this event, visit jcwc.org, call 503-652-7477 or send an e-mail to info@jcwc.org.

The Johnson Creek Watershed drains 55 square miles, much of it in Southeast Portland.
