EVENTS
Donate Food and Toys
Sunbelt Rentals, 7626 N.E. Killingsworth, will host a Toy and Food Fundraiser on Wednesday, December 10 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Stop by to enjoy their holiday light display and drop off a new unwrapped toy and or a non-perishable food item and join the Sunbelt staff for an evening of fun.

See Santa and Mrs. Claus. Enjoy a hotdog, hot cocoa, a soft drink, cookies and chips. Entertainment by the La Center Jazz Band and Choir will delight you. A Portland Fire Bureau truck will be on display.

All donated toys will be presented to the Portland Fire Bureau Toy & Joy Makers. Food donations will be given to the Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division.

Holiday Tea
Oregon Baptist Retirement Homes will host a traditional holiday tea on Friday, December 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the campus at 1825 N.E. 108th Ave.

Enjoy the spirit of the season when you join the residents, friends and neighbors for a very special traditional Christmas Tea and Open House. There will be food and refreshments, entertainment, free gifts, prize drawings, tours of the six-acre campus and lots of good conversation and fun.

Take this opportunity to see one of Portland’s premier not-for-profit retirement communities. See the independent and assisted living options for seniors. The independent campus offers studio and one and two bedroom options. The Johnson Assisted Living Center offers five levels of care to match the needs of residents. All rates are month to month in both neighborhoods.

Oregon Baptist Retirement Homes began its mission in 1944 and is dedicated to meeting the needs of seniors.

Oregon Food Bank donations will be accepted at this event.

Sit on Santa’s lap
Our Savior Lutheran Church will host a Christmas Carnival on Saturday, December 13 from 1 to 3 p.m.

To enchant the children and delight family members young and old, Santa will be on hand to see who is being naughty and who is being nice.

The carnival style event will feature a Christmas tattoo booth, bowling lane, cakewalk, fishing booth, bingo, bean bag toss and more. Candy and prizes will be awarded at all booths and door prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

Food will be available at reasonable prices. All games and activities are free.

Bring your children, have some great fun, sit on Santa’s lap, and walk away with smiles on their faces and in their hearts.

Food drive and Giving Tree plus Santa’s reindeer
While you stroll the Christmas Winter Village, enjoy the holiday lights and pay a visit to Santa’s reindeer at Rossi Farms, please consider a donation for those in need in our community.

Rossi Farms, located at 3839 N.E. 122nd Ave., is sponsoring a canned food drive in conjunction with the Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division. With a goal of ‘fighting crime by fighting hunger’ the Sunshine Division has been assisting families in need since 1923. Your donation of non-perishable canned and packaged foods will be appreciated.

Donations of hats, gloves and scarves will decorate the Giving Tree for distribution by Human Solutions, a local non-profit organization assisting area residents with housing, shelter, food, clothing and utility bills. These clothing items may be new or used, but in good condition please.

The barn at Rossi Farms will be open to accept your donations from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday throughout the month of December.

A special promotional event is scheduled for Thursday, December 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. Receive a special bag of goodies filled with items donated by area businesses when you make a donation during the event. One bag per family, please. While supplies last.

On this evening, each Christmas tree sold will generate a $5 cash donation to be shared equally between the Sunshine Division and Human Solutions.

Candlelight service
Parkrose area neighbors friends and families are invited to attend a special candlelight service on Christmas Eve at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Wednesday, December 24 at 7 p.m.

Your local neighborhood association and the dedicated people who chair the organizations and work on the committees are available to respond to your questions, problems and concerns. Tap in to that resource. Better yet, join them.

With direct access to city government and a united voice, the East Portland Neighborhood Office or EPNO, located at 735 S.E. 106th Ave., will put you in touch with your neighborhood association. The Centennial Community Association will hold a general meeting on Monday, December 8 at 7 p.m. at Harold Oliver Intermediate School, 15840 S.E. Taylor St, Room 65.

A general membership meeting of the Montavilla Neighborhood Association is scheduled on Monday, December 8 at 7 p.m. in the Montavilla Community Center, 8219 N.E. Glisan St.

Grace Lutheran Church, 7610 N.E. Fremont will be the site of the Roseway Neighborhood Association meeting on Tuesday, December 9 at 9 p.m.
