Sandy Blvd. Gregory Heights Library hours are Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed Monday. Free programs and special events for September are listed below. For more information or to pre-register for any event, please call 503-988-5386. Story Stop: Listen to stories every week. Children newborn to 6 years old and their adults are invited to stop by the library for a short, daily program of fun stories. This program is held on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. Tiny Tots: Storytimes for children 1 to 2 years with adult will be held Thursdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Preschool Storytime: Storytimes for children aged 3 to 6 years with adult will be held on Fridays at 11 a.m. Teen Read Week: Head to your neighborhood library during Teen Read Week to get up to ten dollars in fines removed from your library card. After filling out a short survey, students sixth grade through high school will receive a limited fine waiver and a coupon good for 25% off at Borders Books and Music stores. Even if you dont have library fines, students can still fill out the form for the Borders coupon. Teen Read Week runs from Sunday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 20. Family Crafts: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with fun art projects at this bilingual Spanish/English workshop, held Saturday, Oct. 5 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Welcome to Storytime! Enjoy coffee and cake with the Gregory Heights librarians and help plan fun programs for Storytime. This planning session will be held on Friday, Oct. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. The Lion and the Mouse: Aesops stories have helped to educate and entertain children for 2,500 years. One of the best-loved tales is this tale of an insomniac lion and his mouse rescuer. Be prepared to become part of the action as the Oregon Puppet Theater presents this tale with lots of audience participation. E-mail for Beginners: Prerequisite: Web Basics. Learn how to use free e-mail on the Web, like Yahoo and Hotmail. Sign up, then compose and send messages to anywhere in the world. Pre-registration is required for this class, held on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 to 10 a.m. Gregory Heights Computer Lab: Library staff help beginners practice computer basics in the computer lab from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, Saturday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 26. Book Discussion Group: Engage in stimulating conversation about books and get to know your neighbors. Come and exchange perspectives about characters, plot and more! Call for titles.
