SCHOOL CORNER
Students conclude year with free concert
The choir department at Parkrose High School, 12003 N.E. Shaver St. will present the annual Choral Awards Concert on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. in the high school theater.

The Concert Choir will sing selections from Disney, the Treble Choir will present a medley of George Gershwin tunes, the A-Choir will offer a broad ranging selection and the Debonaires will be singing a variety of jazz and big band tunes. The public is invited to this free concert.

Take a tour, win a free computer class
The Mt. Hood Community College Community Skills Center, located at 10100 N.E. Prescott St., will be hosting an open house on June 23 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. You are invited to drop by and learn about the summers ‘2 For 1’ special that allows students to enroll for one non-credit computer class and either sign up a friend for free, or take a second class at no cost. In addition, there will be information on course offerings, demonstrations, a drawing for a free computer course, treats and tours. Please call 503-491-6122 for more information.

Integrated media students present portfolios
Celebrating the first Integrated Media Portfolio Day, Mt. Hood Community College students from the graphic design, professional photography, television and radio programs will present their best works in an exhibit.

The portfolios are a graduation requirement for students concluding their two-year Associate’s of Applied Science degrees. In the last two years, the four media-related programs have reorganized into a new Integrated Media department to better reflect the intrinsic relationships in this digitally driven age.

The public is invited to attend the exhibition, which will be held Monday, June 6 from noon to 7 p.m. in the Town & Gown room at MHCC, 26000 S.E. Stark St. in Gresham. For more information, contact Christina Maier at 503-491-6992.

People requiring accommodations due to a disability should contact the MHCC Disability Services Office at 503-491-6923 or 503-491-7670 (TDD).

Exercise boot camp available at MHCC
Mt. Hood Community College is offering Exercise Boot Camp to give the hip and health-conscious a chance to join in on one of the latest trends in exercise and well being to sweep the nation.

One of the perks of Exercise Boot Camp, according to instructor Elizabeth Rizzo, is the chance to see the sunrise, and the knowledge that at the end of a one-hour class, your mind and body are in tip-top shape.

Exercise Boot Camp (PE185FE) offers different levels and forms of exercise for anyone over the age of 16. In the past, married couples, families, singles, seniors, 17 and 70 year-olds have participated side by side. Weather permitting, the class meets outside and utilizes the MHCC track and the hills nearby to walk, run and participate in relay races and games. The gym is also used for free weights, aerobic exercise and other circuit style programs. With so many activities packed into one hour, there is little chance of boredom.

Whether you are looking for a quick, intense way to get in shape for the summer, or you’re training for a marathon, MHCC Exercise Boot Camp has something to offer. Summer term sessions begin June 20 and July 25. For more information, call the MHCC Health and Physical Education department at 503-491-7450.

People requiring accommodations due to a disability should contact the MHCC Disability Services Office at 503-491-6923 or 503-491-7670 (TDD).
