Tri-Met offers summer youth passes This summer, Tri-Met is offering youth under 18 the opportunity to buy inexpensive Summer Youth passes either month-by-month or for the whole summer. This gives families the choice between the convenience of buying one pass for the whole summer, or the flexibility of buying each month. The passes arent just good for unlimited rides on MAX and buses. Pass holders also get special deals while the pass is valid. Area sponsors, including McDonalds, Oaks Park, the Portland Beavers baseball team and Timbers soccer team offer discounts on things kids love: food, music, entertainment and more. Purchase a Summer Youth Pass at any of the regular Tri-Met outlets, including Fred Meyer, Safeway and most Albertsons stores. A single three-month pass costs just $48 and is good for unlimited rides during June, July and August, which is less than half the regular monthly fee. Each one-month pass costs just $16 and can be used for a single month in June, July or August. To qualify, you must be 18 or younger. The three-month pass and one-month pass for June went on sale in May, so get yours today! Hood Community College now have the opportunity to receive remodeling industry scholarships within a limited pool of applicants, thanks to several contributors to the scholarship fund. Three $600 scholarships will be awarded for winter term 2003. Applicants must be Oregon residents and second-year college students at MHCC or Portland Community College and be studying Architectural Engineering Technology. Hot Summer Days are coming Dive into summer at Montavilla Community Center, at the corner of NE 82 & Glisan. Enjoy the flexibility of signing up by the day, Mondays through Thursdays, for morning or evening camps running from Monday, June 24 through Thursday, August 15. Mornings: keep busy in Daily Day Camp with sports, games, art, crafts and lunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., ages 6 to 10, $12 per day. Afternoons: take off to the pool, the park or on field trips with Park Adventures, for ages 7-11, Mon.-Wed., 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., $12 per day. There will also be extended field trip days on Thursdays, 1 to 6:30 p.m. for $18 per day. Preschool Summer Days: Kids from 3 1/2 to 5 can sign up for 2 days per week; Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday, or your can combine the classes for 4 days per week, Monday through Thursday. The Rossi Farms Barn Dance is back again, and needs you! The annual gala benefit is 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, July 13 at the Rossi Farm, N.E. 122nd Ave. and Shaver St. Therell be dancing to the Last Rodeo Band, the beverage of your choice, and all you can eat baked beans, macaroni, green and potato salad, and fried chicken. There will be lots of fried chicken - last years chicken out will not be repeated! Plus, youll get to see the world premier of Turkey Creek Productions James Prescott and the Legend of Parker Rose, the sequel to last years film, starring people you may recognize.
