Your 40th reunion will span the third full weekend in August. Adventure in the wellfield: A groundwater treasure hunt Join the Columbia Slough Watershed Council and the Portland Bureau of Water Works for a treasure hunt in the Columbia South Shore Wellfield, the home of Portlands backup and emergency water supply. Search the wellfield for clues that will lead you to hidden treasure! This free family-friendly event is appropriate for all ages. Come prepared to walk and explore. Some driving may be involved. Snacks, music, t-shirts, prizes, and educational games will be provided. This event will be held on Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at the 40-mile Loop Trailhead at 16550 N.E. Airport Way. Look for the large blue water tank just past 158th Ave. The driveway to the trailhead is just east of the tank. Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 23 in the Gateway Elks Parking lot, 711 N.E. 100th Ave., two blocks North of Glisan. Lots of nice cars and antique vehicles will be on display for your enjoyment. The day will start with a donations-only carwash from 8-11 a.m. Hamburgers and beverages will be served in the park from noon until 4 p.m. There will be games and raffle drawings from 1-3:30 p.m. as well as a model car contest. A dee-jay will provide the entertainment, along with live performances by Gateways own Showtime Revue. The Lodge will serve a Route 66 B-B-Q buffet from 4-8 p.m. followed by a Sock Hop from 8 p.m. to midnight. This event is for adults only and will cost $2 per person. The Dukes of Portland, a newly formed car club, will assist the Lodge in this day-long event. Proceeds from these activities go to charities within and outside the Lodge. The community is invited to come join in the fun, tour the Gateway Elks Lodge and enjoy a laid back day. City Council meetings Held the first and third Tuesdays of the month, the Maywood Park City Council Meetings are open to all citizens. Residents of Maywood Park are encouraged to attend and to suggest topics for discussion.
