Parkrose Barn Dance brings out the best; breaks records

Last month’s Barn Dance at Rossi Farms was the most successful yet. More than 1500 people showed up to eat chicken and trimmings, break soft and hard beverages, dance to the Last Rodeo Band, watch a Wild West Show and even, for a fee, do some shootin’ of their own. Most importantly, the event netted $10,000 for the Parkrose School Activities Fund, which supplements support for a variety of youth sports and activities in these cash-strapped times. Tom Mannen of Turkey Creek Productions, director of Wild West movies in past years, this time put together the show, and the Wild West town on which it occurred. As usual, Joe Rossi, the white hat of Parkrose, put it all together.

Live music, great food and fun and the bank’s sponsorship of the event enticed Parkrose Bank of America Banking Center Manager Nancy Murphy and her friend Dr. Jim Frohnmayer to Rossi Farms for the annual fundraiser benefiting Parkrose Youth Activities.
The heart and soul of any fundraising effort are its volunteers. Here Rossi Farms neighbor, Heidi Tremblay (in face paint) serves up barbecued chicken prepared by the Parkrose Lions.
