We grew into a family of many local banks that only later became national, said Colm Boer, manager of Wells Fargo's branch at 1610 N.E. 122nd Ave. Despite our size, we don't act big, Boer added. Unlike a lot of large companies, we're very de-centralized. We're local and national at the same time. We have become one of the largest and strongest community banks in Oregon and the nation. Boer joined Wells Fargo in 2008 as a teller in Astoria and later worked as a personal banker in Spokane. Promoted to branch manager in Hood River in 2011, later, he was transferred to his current position in Portland. Six years ago, while he was on a Baltic Sea cruise with Holland America Line, Boer, a Netherlands native, met his future wife Adri, an Astoria, Oregon native. One year later, there was a Hollander-American marriage. They live in Happy Valley with their two girls, ages four and five. In addition to its 31 bank branches in Multnomah County, Wells Fargo also has mortgage, business banking, insurance, commercial real estate financing, and investment offices here. In his role as manager, Boer is responsible for the customer service, sales, professional development and community involvement efforts of 20 branch employees at the busy branch. Wells Fargo believes it will only ever be as successful as the communities it operates in. So we do everything we can to support the areas where our team members and customers live and work, Boer said. For instance, in Multnomah County, Wells Fargo and its more than 1,700 area employees lend a hand to hundreds of schools and nonprofit groups through activities such as: Providing grants to improve education Supporting Habitat for Humanity with both grants and volunteer hours to build affordable homes Assisting the Susan G. Komen Foundation with grants and volunteers Providing grants and volunteers to SOLVE In 2012, the Portland Business Journal named Wells Fargo the most generous bank in Oregon and the nation. More information about Wells Fargo is posted at wellsfargo.com. For more information about how Boer and his team can help you succeed financially, call him at 503-220-2828, or email: colm.s.boer@wellsfargo.com. New Yorker joins carpet, flooring store
