The East Portland Parks Coalition meeting is Thursday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at EPNO, 1017 N.E. 117th Ave.

The Central Mid-county Neighborhood Emergency Training Meeting is Monday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at EPNO, 1017 N.E. 117th Ave.

The East Precinct Citizen’s Advisory Committee meeting is Tuesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. in the East Precinct Community Room, 737 S.E. 106th Ave.

East Portland Chairs Advisory Committee meeting is Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at the EPNO, 1017 N.E. 117th Ave.

The Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood Association AND Centennial Community Association joint membership meeting is Monday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at Powellhurst Baptist Church, 3435 S.E. 112th Ave.

The Mill Park Neighborhood Association general membership meeting is Tuesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Midland Library, 805 S.E. 122nd Ave.

The Parkrose Heights Association of Neighbors board meeting is Tuesday, March 20 at 7 p.m. The general membership meeting is Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. Both meetings are at Parkrose United Methodist Church, 11111 N.E. Knott St. The agenda for the general meeting includes elections of officers.

Toddler Storytime: Storytime for children 24 to 36 months with adult. Mondays from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.

Bilingual Storytime: Presented in Spanish and English for children of all ages. Tuesdays from 4 to 4:30 p.m.

Pajama Time: Bedtime stories for the whole family. Wednesdays from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

Tiny Tots: Storytime for children 12 to 24 months with adult. Thursdays from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.

Preschool Storytime: Storytime for children 3 to 6 years with adult. Fridays from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.

Discover the Lorax: Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a reading of “The Lorax,” and create your own three-dimensional Truffula tree with artist and storyteller Kathy Karbo. Sunday, March 4 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Under the Sea: Using salt and watercolor, artist Dyann Alkire creates a wet-on-wet technique. Learn how to create a dreamy, watery painting of underwater creatures, seaweed and coral. Tuesday, March 27 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Adventures of a Snail and an Ant: Join Amy Gray of Zing Productions as she brings puppets Avon and Edward to life in this adaptation of Avi’s story, “The End of the Beginning.” Wednesday, March 28 from 2 to 2:45 p.m.

Teen Lounge and Homework Center: Use library computers, get homework help, or just do your homework and listen to music. For teens in grades 6-12. Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. except March 1.

Mehndi Folk Art: Zahra Mohammed explains this art of body decoration and demonstrates how to mix and apply powdered henna. Designs remain on the skin for approximately one week. For teens in grades 6-12.

Read to the Dogs SM: Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs and handlers are from the DoveLewis Animal Assisted Therapy and Education Program. Registration is required. Call 503-988-5386. Sunday, March 18 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Language Exchange: Engage in conversation with native English speakers who want to practice their Spanish and with native Spanish speakers who want to practice their English. Saturdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Tax Help: Trained tax preparers volunteer their time and expertise to help you with your tax forms. Bring last year’s return and this year’s paperwork. This program is sponsored by AARP. Same-day appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Pageturners: Engage in stimulating conversation about books, exchange perspectives about characters and plot, and get to know your neighbors. Sponsored by Friends of the Library. Read “The Known World” by Edward P. Jones. Tuesday, March 20 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Computer Lab: Lab assistants are available to help beginners practice their computer skills. Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m.

TechnoHosts: Volunteers help you search the Web, play educational CD-ROM games, and look up materials with the library’s online catalog. Assistance in Vietnamese is available. Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Web Basics: Learn about the World Wide Web. Participants need to be comfortable using a keyboard and a mouse. Registration is required. Register online, in the library or by calling 503-988-5234. Wednesday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Searching the Web: Prerequisite: Web basics or Internet experience. This class combines Web Searching I and II so you can learn several Web searching tools at once. Wednesday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Word Processing I: Learn how to use the basic features of Microsoft Word 2000. Participants need to be comfortable using a keyboard and a mouse. Registration is required. Register online, in the library or by calling 503-988-5234. Wednesday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Word Processing II: Prerequisite: Word Processing I. Learn more advanced skills, including tables and bullets. Participants need to be comfortable using a keyboard and a mouse. Registration is required. Register online, in the library or by calling 503-988-5234. Wednesday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to noon.
