During the annual Argay Neighborhood Association’s clean up held last month, volunteers (from left) Joe Stroud, Gary Scott, Benjamin Berry and Jane Roffey Berry transfer Lesia Carlock’s (second from right) yard debris into a dumpster. The Argay neighborhood’s clean up was one of many neighborhood association clean-up events held last month in Mid-county

ANA Chair Valerie Curry said about 40 households dropped off appliances, scrap metal, televisions, microwave ovens, computers, yard debris, tires and other discards at the annual event held on Saturday, May 20, at Shaver Elementary, 3701 N.E. 131st Place.

Members of the Parkrose High School water polo team sold donuts and coffee to refuel volunteers and customers. The money raised will help support the team.

Because Metro and the city of Portland Office of Sustainable Development sponsored the clean up, ANA was able to charge nominal fees. AGG Disposal and Scott’s Recycling provided collection services.
