Cherrywood Village sky bridge Oked

LEE PERLMAN
THE MID-COUNTY MEMO

The long-sought sky bridge to connect two buildings at the Cherrywood Village retirement community took another small step forward last month: the Portland Design Commission voted unanimously to approve the project. A few remaining details remain, but the commission delegated these to planner Kara Fioravanti to work out with Cherrywood Village, with the commission to become again involved only if Fioravanti and Cherrywood Village reached an impasse. The commission initially refused to allow the bridge at all, saying that such structures were against city policy, but Portland City Council over ruled them.

“Have a nice bridge,” Portland Design Commission Chairman Mike McCulluch told Cherrywood management.
