Auction items, from a yo-yo to a round trip to the moon, have been gathered and advance ticket sales are underway for the fifth annual Valentine Dinner and Auction fund-raiser for SnowCap Community Charities.

The event is a major fundraiser of the year for the Multnomah County agency. It is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel, 8235 N.E. Airport Way.

“We are still accepting items for our auctions and table sponsors,” said SnowCap Executive Director Judy Alley. Donations can include dinners, vacation packages and personal services. “We especially need items that are fun and family oriented.”

Donors contributing 19 items or more will receive a free ticket to the event, Alley added.

SnowCap Community Charities, at 17805 S.E. Stark Street, is a nonprofit, faith-based agency that provides food, clothing, energy assistance, English language instruction, social advocacy and other services for low-income families and individuals. SnowCap’s Web site is www.Snowcap.org.

SnowCap board member Charlie Ross of Parkrose said the event will include a plated dinner and silent and oral auctions. The silent auction opens at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. The oral auction immediately follows dinner service, Ross said.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. They are available at SnowCap for $50 per person. Call 503.674.8785 ext. 17, to reserve your seat or to offer a donation.

Auction organizers have set a goal of $50,000. Funds will be used to support SnowCap’s well-established programs, including food baskets, Food-to-You deliveries and seasonal energy assistance.
