The sixth annual Northwest Catholic Counseling Center Circle of Strength fundraiser drew over 200 women to Riverside Golf and Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 20. Attendees raised money for women and children who need mental health counseling services and are without insurance or financial resources. Addressing attendees, Executive Director Sister Barbara Kennedy said, “We are here today with a dream that will transform the future, a dream that our efforts will break the bonds of poverty by providing women and children with the possibility of a healthy future. We are here today to dream, to build and to create. You are the hope of future generations.”

Keynote speaker Roslyn Farrington, professor of women’s studies at Portland State University, urged supporters of NWCC to commend themselves for their work and commitment on behalf of women and children.

NWCC serves individuals, families and the community with professional and compassionate mental health counseling. No one is ever turned away from the center for lack of funds. The center is open to people of all faiths.

In addition to individual counseling, the center provides pre-marriage preparation programs and other group services on a regular basis. To purchase tickets for next year’s annual fundraiser and to find out more about the center and its services, visit the Web site at www.nwcounseling.org or call 503-253-0964.
