15th Annual Festival of Lights has something for everyone
(continued)

As the festival has grown through the years, so has the quantity of lights The Grotto displays. The festival now features over a half million lights including animated lighting displays, narrated fiber-optic displays, and other dramatic displays focusing on the story of the birth of Christ.

This year’s puppet show will feature a story entitled “The Lion and The Lamb.” A story bound to touch the heart of children of all ages. Visitors can also get a glimpse of what might have been taking place on the evening Mary and Joseph arrived at the Inn through theatrical presentations directed by Parkrose’s own Phoenix Theatre Company.

The Christmas Festival of Lights offers many other activities for your family, including a live animal petting zoo, outdoor caroling and a display of nativity sets from around the world. Seasonal food and beverages are also available.

The festival is a walk-through event. While all entertainment areas are tented and concerts are performed indoors, visitors should dress for the weather including warm rubber-soled shoes. The festival meets ADA requirements and is completely accessible. Ample free parking is available.

Tickets are available at The Grotto Gift Shop, all Ticketmaster outlets, and at The Grotto’s front gate. General information, nightly performance schedules, and other festival details may be obtained by calling The Festival of Lights hotline: 503-261-2400.

This fiber optic display of Mary and Joseph, accompanied by narration, is one of the dozens on display nightly through December 30.
