COURTESY LUCHINI FAMILY

Donna Jean Williams was born in Parkrose on June 6, to Oscar and Lillian Williams. Donna (Parkrose High class of 1950) married Al Luchini Jan. 21, 1950, and became a Parkrose Italian by marriage. Al and Donna built a home (yes, they built it themselves) and raised four children, Cathy (Ron), Linda (Doug), Elizabeth (Gene) and Albert (Marilynn) in that Parkrose home.

She was known as Granny to seven grandsons and one granddaughter and as G.G. to seven great-grandchildren—an eighth is due in May. Her husband, Al, passed away in 1989.

Donna was very active in her church, St. Rita. She worked 42 spaghetti dinners, countless bazaars and other functions where her cooking skills were valued. She enjoyed dances at the Gateway Elks Lodge and Pisano Club and monthly lunches with the “Senior Ritas.” Although not a farmer, she was embraced by the farming community in Northeast Portland. She and her four children worked on farms, which Donna claimed blessed them with a solid work ethic; her children might gently beg to differ.

Seven years ago, Donna moved to Russellville Park Senior Living. She was active in that community and made many new friends to laugh with.

She had a good life, and she knew it. The next time you do the Chicken Dance, think of Donna.

Services have been held. The family suggests that you remember Donna with a donation to the charity of your choice.
