In the story “Argay still angry over farmland’s development” story in October’s issue, we got some facts wrong about the brick house mentioned in the piece. According to Paulette Rossi, the home was originally built in the late 1930s by an Italian bricklayer, but not for the Van Buren family as stated in the story. Rossi said her father Nicola was going to purchase it in 1945 before he bought the home on Northeast 148th Avenue about a half-mile north where she lives today. She added the Van Burens didn’t move into the brick house until the mid-1960s.
In addition, in the “Paradise marks nine years” Business Memos item, we misstated the number of years Steve and Dawn Chan have owned the nightclub. Paradise has been in business for more than nine years; however, the Chans have owned if for six, not all nine as we stated. In the same item, we said Paradise General Manager Theresa Wilson was born and raised in east Portland; almost, her family moved here when she was seven-years-old.
We regret the errors and apologize for these mistakes.
