MEETINGS Help with party plans Volunteer leaders of neighborhood associations across Mid-County work all year to assure safe, pleasant living conditions for us all. Many will host special events for the annual National Night Out in August. They can use your expertise and time. Knott St., is the site for the board meeting of the Parkrose Heights Association of Neighbors on Tuesday, July 19 at 7 p.m. The Glenfair Neighborhood Association will meet at the National Missing Childrens Locate Center, 16 N.E. 148th Ave. on Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m. Russell Neighborhood Association members are scheduled to meet on Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m. in the Hampton Hall Conference Room at Western states Chiropractic College, 2900 N.E. 132nd Ave. There are no meetings on the July calendar for Mill Park Neighborhood Association, Wilkes Community Group, or for the Woodland Park Neighborhood Association. Win a classic car Columbia View Kiwanis is selling raffle tickets for the Doernbecher Children's Hospital drawing that will take place on Labor Day at the Oregon State Fair. The prize this year is a beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang convertible, with an assessed value of $17,500. Kiwanians are encouraged to invite men and women who are interested in community service to join them at a meeting on any Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the new Russelville Park Retirement Center, Southeast 103rd Avenue and East Burnside Street. Party planned at VBS kickoff Crossroads Christian Church, 2505 N.E. 102nd Ave., will host an extravaganza featuring food and craft booths and loads of fun for the whole family on Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. This event will be the kickoff for its annual vacation bible school beginning July 10, running through the 14th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme this summer is Jerusalem Marketplace and is open to children ages 4 through those entering the 6th grade.
