Long haul trucker, Robert Huntington and his Asian born wife, Rita, travel the Interstates of the west and claim to have tried all the teriyaki restaurants on their regular route from Prineville, where they reside, to Portland and on to Seattle. Nominate environmentally friendly businesses The City of Portland Office of Sustainable Development is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the 2004 Businesses for an Environmentally Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Awards. These awards honor innovative businesses throughout the Portland metro region in six program areas: Energy, Water Efficiency/Stormwater Management, Transportation Alternatives, Waste Reduction/Pollution Prevention, Sustainable Product Development, and Sustainable Food Systems Applications are due by February 20. Mid-County Allstate Agent awarded for volunteerism Jim Satterfield received the Agency Hands in the Community award for his commitment to volunteering in the community. With this award comes a $500 grant from The Allstate Foundation for the Run Faster Foundation, Inc. where Satterfield volunteers. Satterfield, whose office is located at 215 S.E. 102nd, has been earning awards as an age-group Track & Field athlete for over 40 years. He has trained and studied with legendary athletes and coaches from around the world. In the process, Jim has become an authority on training methods and has developed his own approach that he is passing on to others at clinics sponsored by the Run Faster Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the sport of Track & Field. Jim also coaches a group of local elite men and women athletes, some of who are training for the 2004 USA Olympic Trials, and are sponsored by Run Faster. Satterfield was nominated by Kevin Saddler, market business consultant at Allstate Insurance Company. Allstate believes that it is very important for corporations to take an active interest in the communities they serve. Allstate is proud to support such a worthwhile cause through the Allstate Foundation, said Michelle Lee, vice president for Allstates Northwest Region. The grant from the Allstate Foundation will provide much needed support for the work of Run Faster Foundation, Inc. Through the Agency Hands in the Community grant program, Allstate agents and financial specialists are recognized for outstanding commitment to community service with a $500 donation to the charitable organization where they volunteer. To qualify for the grant, agents must show evidence of volunteer work that has had a positive impact on the local community. Valentines Day, A New Song & Dance Chef Edgar and Eileen Stocker of Steamers Restaurant, Northeast 82nd Avenue and Sandy Blvd., pull out all the stops for the 6 p.m., Saturday, February 14th Valentines Day evening celebration with a complete steak and lobster dinner plus the return of song and dance team Lyndin & Warren in their new show, Romance in Song and Dance. The team of Lyndin & Warren bring to mind the days of song and dance duos from movies and Broadway. The songs are familiar and the team is an enjoyable treat for every age. Cindy Lyndin, a graduate of Parkrose High School, is a singer with extensive professional theater credits. Lyndin develops the duos vocals and Warren develops the staging.
