David Douglas was upended Round 2 of the 2011 OSAA 6A Football State Championships.

Despite a conference record of a 1-4, the David Douglas Scots took advantage of play-in game defeating North Medford 20-6 to advance to the 6-A state tournament. They beat West Linn 17-14, but were ousted by Oregon City 28-18 the following week.

Parkrose finished the season 3-5 to qualify for a state tournament play-in game against PIL champs, Jefferson. The Democrats prevailed 36-19, bringing the Bronco season to an end on a cold, wet and rainy night. Zach Abney, Quame Adams, Jonathan Boland, Marquis Hammick, Jerry Hunter, Thomas Lott and Henry Vy earned Northwest Oregon Conference honorable mention honors.

Jahmarciay Barr and Charles Riga of Madison were named to the Portland Interscholastic League all city teams. Each was selected to the second team on both offense and defense; Barr as a guard and defensive lineman, Riga as a utility player on offense and as linebacker.

Portland Christian finished third in the Northwest League and ended its season with a 16-14 loss to Monroe in a state play-in game. Players named to Northwest League all-star teams are first team offense: Mitchell Hoffarth, lineman; Ty Zimmerman, wide receiver; Cameron Jones, kicker. First team defense: Austin Wisenbaker and Dryden Rachinski, linemen; Anthony White, linebacker and Nathan Mumford, defensive back. Second team offense: Jordan Flikkema, linemen; Nathan Mumford, wide receiver; Steven Mumford, quarterback; and Anthony White, running back.

Boys Soccer
On the strength of a 7-5-2 record, the David Douglas boys' team earned a state play-in game against Southridge. The Skyhawks persevered in double overtime to beat the Scots 3-2.

The Madison Senators also went 7-5-2. They were denied entry in the 5-A state tournament bracket by a 3-0 loss to Wilsonville in a play-in game. Players named to the all city team are Biruk Molla and Alex Abalan, midfielders and goalkeeper Rolando Valdovinos, first team; Basil Urom, second team, defense. Alex Alas-Canalas, defense; Uriel Salinas-Paz, midfielder; Pedro Menolex, forward earned honorable mention.

The Parkrose boys' soccer season ended with a state tournament play-in game against number one ranked Cleveland. They finished 3-7-2 on the year. Defender Christopher Parrot led the way in individual honors with first team all Northwest Oregon League honor. Matthew Dickie, a forward, was named to the second team. And, receiving honorable mention were midfielders Matthew Cates, Nick Hasen and Fernando Ibanes and goalie, Edgar Mendoza.

The Portland Christian Royals finished second in the Columbia River Soccer League play. They faced St. Mary's of Medford in a state play-in game, losing 7-1. PC players named to all conference teams were Jess Cayetano, Katy Akiyama, Matt Kolenski, Austin Rogers.

Portland Christian advanced to the OSAA 2A Volleyball State Championship game last month before losing to Days Creek 0-3.

Girls Soccer
The Scots girls finished the year 3-11, but did earn a tournament play-in game. They lost 3-0 to Redmond.

Parkrose Bronco defender Katherine Kerr was named to the Northwest Oregon Conference second team. Riley Brown, a midfielder, received honorable mention.

Madison Senators midfielder Fernanda Bueno was named to the all city first team. Iratxe Fiallegas, a forward; Marley VonWerssowetz, a defender; and Natalylee Hoffman, a midfielder, earned honorable mentions.

Volleyball
Finishing third in conference play, the Portland Christian girls went on a tear in the 2-A state tournament. They defeated Elgin 3-1, Weston McEwen 3-0 and Reedsport 3-1 to advance to the championship game. They lost to Days Creek 0-3, but brought the second place trophy home. Emily Kozlowski was named Northwest League player of the year and was named to the all-state first team. Taylor Forney was named to the conference first team and state second team. Anna Schroeder was named to the second team all conference. Stacy Kozlowski earned conference honorable mention.

The Bronco girls 9-5 record earned them third place in the Northwest Oregon Conference and a berth in the state tournament, however, Churchill, out of Eugene, handed them a first round loss 25-21, 25-17, 25-19. Brian Davis was named NWOC coach of the year and Lauren Johnson and Karissa Paltridge were named all-league. Making the second team were Justine Shepard, Brittany Shook and Breanna Markham.

Water Polo
The Parkrose water polo teams are celebrating the selection of Coach Gary Muzzy as Mt. Hood Conference coach of the year. Jeremy Clement earned all league first team honors; Cameron Tennyson, Victor Rojas and Erica Evans were selected to the second team and Dylan Thomas, Connor Pow, Margaret Grant and Samantha Baumgarner received honorable mention.

The Bronco boys finished third in state, the fifth consecutive year they brought home a trophy. All tournament team selections included Jeremy Clement, first team; Victor Rojas, Cameron Tennyson and Tarren Lee, second team; Dylan Thomas and Connor Pow, honorable mention.
