It offers many distinct neighborhoods ranging from spacious lots that feel like you are living in forest of Douglas firs to areas of mid-century retro homes, said the relative new comer to the area. She also likes the access to shopping, excellent schools, and she loves that it's only minutes to the airport, downtown, Vancouver and Gresham. Durighello points out that Mid-county offers some of the best real estate values in the Portland area but notes that prices are on the rise. Interest rates are still low and first-time buyers will find programs to help them make the transition from renter to homeowner. If you are a seller, she notes that the market is strong, especially in the under $250,000 price range. She believes the area is poised for growth and expansion and anticipates this area will become one of the most interesting and exciting neighborhoods in Portland in the near future. Zip Realty has an online real estate site with super interactive tools for buying and selling your home. Durighello also provides service the old fashioned way with personal consultations. She strives to provide excellent customer service, integrity and knowledge about the area. Before becoming a real estate agent with Zip, Durighello owned Tin Inn Vintage Travel Trailers, a vintage travel trailer restoration business. Over a nine-year period, she restored and refurbished 260 vintage trailers and sold them worldwide. Get in touch with Durighello now at wdurighello@ziprealty.com or 971-256-2579. Lutheran schools make changes, join forces
Kara Kaufman, elementary principal at Portland Lutheran School, has been promoted to principal of the full pre-kindergarten through 12th grade academic program. A lifelong Lutheran, Kaufman has worked in Lutheran education for 12 years. She graduated magna cum laude from Concordia University in 1999 and began her career as a middle school teacher in Santa Monica, Calif. that fall. Her area of specialty is the language arts, and she has taken great joy over the years helping students develop into effective and confident writers and speakers. While teaching, she received her master's degree and was also trained for a principal position in the Lutheran schools through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod's School Leadership Development Program. It was while teaching in Santa Monica that she met her husband, Derek. After taking two years off with her two young daughters, Kaufman moved with her family back to the Portland area, where she soon after became a school administrator for Trinity Lutheran School in Oregon City. Currently, Kaufman is in her fourth year at Portland Lutheran School, where her two young daughters attend elementary school. In addition, PLACE Foundation announced a partnership between Portland Lutheran School and Trinity Lutheran School to assist in the promotion of Christian education in the Portland area. The PLACE Foundation was established in the 1970s to accept, manage and distribute monetary donations to Portland Lutheran School. This new partnership means Trinity Lutheran School now will benefit from PLACE Foundation fundraising as well. This relationship allows administrators and faculty at both schools to concentrate on academics and student development. The foundation staff includes Wolbrecht, an office manager, and a full-time marketing specialist and student recruiter. The office is located at Portland Lutheran School, 740 S.E. 182nd Ave. |
