The Mid-county Memo is your newspaper. We want to hear from you. Discuss an important issue or address a concern you want to call to the attention of the community. We prefer e-mailed letters to the editor sent to Darlene Vinson at editor@midcountymemo.com. Please put “Letter to the editor” in the subject line. You may also mail your letter to 3510 N.E. 134th Ave., Portland, OR 97230 or fax it to 503-249-7672. Deadline for the July issue is Friday, June 15.

From one volunteer to all the others
To the Editor:
A volunteer is someone who gives of his or her time for the greater good of others. They make a commitment and see it through. They build relationships in the community that last forever.

They are people like Dave and Barb Luce, who have earned our love and respect. I am proud to call them my friends as I do so many other volunteers I have met along the way.

We do what we do because of our love for the Parkrose School District and are proud as we help at the local can drive, an athletic event, a concert or a play, or the farmer's market. Whatever it is we do, we do it for the kids.
Parkrose is on top again because of all the amazing volunteers.
We appreciate you every week of every month of every year!

Gail Volk
Parkrose resident, school district employee and volunteer
