Local Farmers agent offers safety meeting tips
Oregon HB2222, which went into effect on Jan. 1, contains provisions requiring all Oregon employers, regardless of size, to hold monthly safety or safety committee meetings. Detailed rule making by OR-OSHA is still in progress, but the law is clear: Monthly safety meetings must be held.

Topics to be covered at the safety meetings are not specified but would typically cover such issues as injury prevention, loss control, workplace cleanliness, hazardous material storage and handling, proper use of tools and equipment, and a host of other subjects.

Jon Turino, a northeast Portland-based insurance and financial services agent for Farmers Insurance Group has announced his availability as a speaker at these monthly meetings. There is no charge for his services in this regard, although his time is limited. Engagements will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

Turino has many years of experience in high- and low-tech businesses ranging from simple service-oriented firms to large manufacturing companies and has access to a large quantity of safety-related materials through Farmers Insurance. Turino is an award-winning speaker who promises to make the required monthly half-hour meetings both worthwhile and enjoyable.
Contact Turino at jturino@farmersagent.com or 503-252-5815.
