Story Stop: Stories for children newborn to 6 years. Daily from 1:30 to 1:45 p.m. (except Feb. 20)

Book Babies: Storytime for children newborn to 12 months. Tuesdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

Tiny Tots: Storytime for children 12 to 24 months. Wednesdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

Toddler Storytime: Storytime for children 24 to 36 months. Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to noon

Preschool Storytime: Storytime for children 3 to 6 years. Thursdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

Bilingual Storytime: Presented in Spanish and English for children of all ages. Saturdays from 2 to 3 p.m.

Valentine Fun: Have a lovely time creating heart-felt cards and crafts. Friday, Feb. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Paper Kite-Making Workshop: Join artist Sarah Ferguson as she shows you how to create a colorful paper kite. Recommended for children 5 years and older. In conjunction with Everybody Reads, Multnomah County Library's fourth annual community reading project. Space at this program is limited. Free tickets for seating will be available 60 minutes prior to the program. Sunday, Feb. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Princess and the Peanut: Princess Robin gets stuck in a rainstorm on her way to the library and stops at the nearest castle for shelter. The queen lets her stay the night but is not sure that Robin is a real princess. See what the queen does to find out. Space at this program is limited. Free tickets for seating will be available 60 minutes prior to the program. Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.

Jazz Storytime: Join jazz musicians for jazz in words and music for children and families. Presented by the Leroy Vinnegar Jazz Institute. Saturday, Feb. 18 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Americanistan: Enjoy a mix of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean sounds with this Eugene-based band. In conjunction with Everybody Reads, Multnomah County Library's fourth annual community reading project. Space at this program is limited. Teen Lounge and Homework Center: Use library computers, get homework help, or just do your homework and listen to music. For teens in grades 6 through 12. Mondays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. (except Feb. 20)

Read to the Dogs: Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog from the Dove Lewis Animal Assisted Therapy and Education Program. Registration required; call 503-988-5392.

Mondays, Feb. 6 and 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

"The Giver"-Play Preview: View a selected scene from Oregon Children's Theatre's upcoming production of Lois Lowry's "The Giver." Talk with the actors and a member of the technical design team about the challenges of creating another world where color and music do not exist. Space at this program is limited. Free tickets for seating will be available 60 minutes prior to the program. Sunday, Feb. 26 from 2 to 2:45 p.m.

Talk Time: Talk Time is an informal conversation circle for non-native speakers to practice speaking English. This is not a class, but an opportunity to meet new people, share your culture and have fun. Food will be served. Only English will be spoken. Sign up in advance at the library, or just come to any session. Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Pageturners: Engage in stimulating conversation about books, exchange perspectives about characters and plot and get to know your neighbors. Friends of the Library sponsors this book club. Read "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. Join in for Everybody Reads, Multnomah County Library's annual community-wide book discussion. Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 6:45 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 1 to 2:15 p.m.

Computer Lab: Lab assistants are available to help beginners practice their computer skills. Fridays, 2:30 to 5 p.m.

E-mail for Beginners: Prerequisite: Web Basics. Learn how to use free e-mail on the Web, like Yahoo or Hotmail. Sign up, then compose and send messages to anywhere in the world. Registration required; register online, in the library or by calling 503-988-5234. Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Cyber Seniors Computer Classes: This series of classes is for seniors who want to learn how to use a computer. Learn to use a mouse, search the Internet, and send and receive e-mail. Each session will consist of one hour of instruction and one hour of practice. You must register and attend all three sessions. Register online, in the library or by calling 503-988-5234. Mondays, Feb. 6, 13 and 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Word Processing I: Learn how to use the basic features of Microsoft Word 2000. Select and modify text, cut and paste, open and save a document, and create your own party invitations. Participants need to be comfortable using a keyboard and mouse. Registration required; register online, in the library or by calling 503-988-5234. Friday, Feb. 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
