Meals on Wheels...

Following is a list of meals to be served this month in the Mid-county area by Meals on Wheels. Meals are served at noon, Monday through Friday, at the Cherry Blossom Senior Services Office in the East Portland Community Center, 740 S.E. 106th Ave. There is a suggested donation of $3. Participants are asked to pay what they can comfortably afford. For more information, please call the Cherry Blossom Meals on Wheels at 503-256-2381.

In addition to the daily selection, Meals on Wheels provides milk and a choice of coffee or tea with each meal. Meals on Wheels offers an alternative main dish with each meal. Both choices appear in capitals. Side dishes follow and will be included with either selection.

Also, Cherry Blossom Center of Meals on Wheels reminds area seniors that its regular services include Asian cuisine made from scratch on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Thursday, Aug. 7: ROAST PORK, Gravy and Couscous or BLACK BEAN NACHO PIZZA with Peas and Carrots, Cabbage Pepper Slaw, Lime Applesauce Gelatin

Friday, Aug. 8: CHICKEN STROGANOFF and Egg Noodles or MEDITERRANEAN SANDWICH and French Lentil Soup with Green Beans, Spinach Salad with Ranch Dressing, Banana Cake

Monday, Aug. 11: BEEF and MACARONI CASSEROLE or CHICKEN DIJON SANDWICH and Chicken Noodle Soup with Country Trio Vegetables, Cucumber Slaw, Cookie

Tuesday, Aug. 12: CITRUS TARRAGON CHICKEN and Mashed Potatoes or OPEN FACE SEAFOOD SANDWICH and Corn Potato Chowder with Normandy Blend Vegetables, Patio Salad, Apple

Wednesday, Aug. 13: BAKED FISH and Lemon Dill Sauce or PORK and Barbecue Sauce with Rice Pilaf, Garden Blend Vegetables, Tossed Salad with French Dressing, Peanut Butter Pie

Thursday, Aug. 14: MEAT LASAGNA or CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD WRAP and Mushroom Barley Soup with Key West Blend Vegetables, Tossed Salad with Italian Dressing, Mousse

Modified diets available with a doctor’s prescription: soft, low-sodium, diabetic and low-cholesterol.
