Going to the dogs
If you travel Northeast Halsey Street in the vicinity of 119th Avenue, there is no doubt you have seen the colorful new storefront of U Can Do It Dog Wash. Proprietor Sue Wade was convinced Mid-county was in need of a dog grooming facility that offers pet owners the option of shampooing their dogs themselves or turning the task over to her and her staff. Her intuition has paid off in the form of neighbors and potential customers dropping in to check the place out.

U Can Do It Dog Wash, 11931 N.E. Halsey St., opened its doors in June. The shop has wash tubs, shampoo, conditioner, towels and aprons for those who decide to wash their dogs themselves. Taylor Case, a professional groomer is on hand to do the work when you don't want to.

On Saturdays from time to time, Wade will host a fundraising event for a cause that she supports. On Saturday, Oct. 22 50 percent of the proceeds between noon and 5 p.m. will go to Friends of Old English Sheepdogs.

Wade sees DIY dog washing as a family experience and invites folks to bring the kids. Visit ucandoitdogwash.com for shop hours and pricing.
