Senn's Dairy Park play equipment

Senn’s Park play equipment rejected
According to incoming chair of the Parkrose Neighborhood Association, Marci Emerson-Peters, a proposal to provide play equipment for Senn’s Dairy Park on Northeast 112th Avenue and Prescott Street through donations and community fund raising was rejected out of hand by Portland Parks & Recreation and Portland Parks, respectively.

Emerson-Peters was told the reason was the Parks Bureau would have to provide daily maintenance for any such facilities, and there is no money in the budget for such things.

Bureau director Zari Santner confirmed the basic information for the Memo: any play equipment must be checked over daily for hazards such as broken glass, and new responsibilities must be approved through a budget process. She did say that such an appropriation could be made eventually, and that the bureau would look favorably on donated facilities.

Dorene Warner of Human Solutions, Inc. was elected chair of the Opportunity Gateway Program Advisory Committee last month.
