MHCC receives gifts for students
Student scholarships and classroom equipment will see a boost for the 2002-2003 school year thanks to more than $20,000 in recent contributions to the Mt. Hood Community College Foundation.

A $10,000 gift was courtesy of the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association. This scholarship funding is specified for MHCC students in the two-year Automotive Technology programs.

The Boyd Coffee Company of Portland has also made its annual contribution of $5,000 to the MHCC Foundation to support educational enhancements to college programs.

Boeing Company Manufacturing Tech Prep contributed $4,600 to its annual scholarship fund to finance scholarships for students who are working toward associate degrees at MHCC in machine tool technology, mechanical engineering technology or engineering transfer.

In addition, the Starseed Foundation gave the college $1,700 to use toward a ventilation improvement project in the ceramics labs in the Visual Arts facilities on the MHCC Gresham campus.

The Soroptimists of Portland East also contributed $1,500. This gift is for the college’s Transitions/Transiciones program, which serves displaced homemakers and others who face barriers in coming to school.

For more information, contact MHCC Foundation Development Coordinator Sunny Klever at 503-491-7206.
